Sturgis' positivity makes him stand out from other candidates
Ann Arbor native Eric Sturgis is clearly the best candidate for City Council in the 1st Ward.
It's no surprise that he supports efficient city services, governmental transparency, well-funded public safety, safe and pedestrian friendly neighborhoods, city parks and natural areas. Those are givens! I also very much like his strong commitment to historic preservation. But Eric offers more than that. He will provide a fresh voice, backed up by intelligence and an open mind that will support City Council's movement beyond the naysayers on every issue and help create an exciting future for this town. Eric is no accountant, but he has an excellent grasp of the financial and governmental requirements that will make progress possible. At the same time, he is well aware of the dangers — including the kind of negativity expressed by some candidates that would limit our future community possibilities. Eric's positive approach to the future has won him — among a long list of others — the endorsement of former City Council Members Eunice Burns, Pat Vareen Dixon and Jean Robinson. I have had the opportunity to talk at length with Eric. He has won my strong support. Vote for Eric Sturgis on Aug. 7!

At least Eric uses a union printer for his literature. And Sumi Kailasapathy's hitching her horse to Pat Lesko's wagon 2 years ago has not been forgotten in my household. It is not essential to have an accountant on council, there are also bad CPA's out there!

I guess it's a sin to say the sky is blue around here... Be that as it may, Ray Detter has been a strong supporter of Hizzoner and his cronies, and has, doubtless, benefited in various ways, in return for helping with the window dressing from time to time. And THAT window needs a lot of dressing!!

"Consider the source, Mr. Detter was appointed to the Downtown Area Citizens Advisory Council by the mayor." Not to mention was a member of the 'citizen's committee' work group for the Ann Arbor Public Art Commission that approved the giant urinal water fountain art work at the City Building. Not a surprise since Sturgis wants to increase the Per Cent For Art Tax on City projects from 1% to 2%. And something to remember on August 7th.

No experience! During last years fall election he supprted Lumm, then a week later he supported Rapundalo. Flip-flops his loyalty depending on where the bread is buttered....

"Eric is no accountant.............." What is he? Someone who still is in college and has no experience in municipal government. He does not even belong in this race.
