Thanks for story on local author's book on Jesus and Christianity

By Letters to the Editor

I want to thank you for running the very interesting interview Ann Dwyer did with local author Jim Stacey.

Christianity has brought a lot of joy and meaning into people's lives for many centuries. It has inspired great poetry and works of art. It has provided a vocabulary for people to express their concern for the poor, the hungry, and the outcast.

Unfortunately, Christianity has also been used as a weapon by people who couldn't care lessabout loving their neighbor or helping the poor.

It's good to hear someone suggest we go back and look at the man who gave us the Sermon on the Mount, rather than the fictional character so many worship and adore. Underneath the layers of church doctrine and political discourse, there is a real human being with a simple message of love that still resonates today.
