Where are the tax breaks promised by the Democrats for middle-class and poor?
My name is not “Joe,” I am not a plumber.
During the 2008 elections, Obama and the Democrats promised tax cuts for the middle- and lower-income taxpayers. I still have not received my tax cut. I am a retired, middle-income taxpayer and disabled veteran. Where is my tax cut?
If this is how Obama and the Democrats are going to lie to me, then why should I vote for any Democrat at any level in future elections?
I wonder how many other taxpayers still have not received their tax cut yet. I strongly encourage anyone that has not received their tax cut (especially retirees) to vote “no” for Democrats in future elections.
It is bad enough that we retirees did not receive a COLA for Social Security during the last two years, but I also did not receive a COLA for my veteran’s disability either for the last two years.
Shame on you Democrats. Evidently you elected politicians do not support the troops/veterans like you proclaim. You could have passed some kind of special congressional legislation (instead of defeating it on 12-8-2010) to at least give us disabled veterans some kind of COLA.

If you vote for the other party you may not have to worry about your COLA. They tend to believe that Social Security is cummunist plot. Regarding taxes...I do believe the first stimulus had 300 billion in tax cuts and the recent unfunded "Republican" stimulus had 700 billion in tax cuts..

My name is Joe and I think Kenneth got jerked around. Yep, Kenneth missed the word "working" from the chief word parser's mouth. But does everyone else understand every little detail and nuance that is being uttered by the man that has the "gift" (as he said to Harry Reid)? I don't know about you but I hope I don't have to decipher the words of the latest president when I'm in my retired years. Seems our tax system is beyond comprehension, why can't there be a simple flat tax? You make more money, you pay higher taxes, you make less, you pay less? This class warfare motivation for power is ugly and in the end does nothing for anyone's cause.

One form the tax cuts for middle class and working people is thru a reduction in payroll taxes for people who work and get a paycheck.

Well, losing control of the house of representatives makes it pretty hard for Obama and the democrats to follow through on their plans and promises.

For two years they had the power to do as they pleased. Some would say they did. Others would argue they did not. If you go to Obama's campaign promises and read thru them, how would you grade him on his promises?

It took a lot of sour grapes to generate the whine in this article.

I'm a lower middle class part-time college instructor. As of January, I now pay 1 percentage point less in taxes, due to a reduction in the Social Security tax. Everyone who works got that, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure what the situation is for retired folk, but pretty much all Americans are paying less in taxes than they would have been at any other point in the last several decades. It seems silly that at a time when Republicans are saying that everyone should share the sacrifices involved in getting out of a recession, they're trying to lower taxes further, heaping the greatest burden on those who work for the government and rely on the services it provides. I appreciate that the Democrats have, in fact, lowered taxes, but I honestly think we should be paying more, not less, so that we can provide the services that we all want and need.

People will complain under any possible circumstances, it's just human nature. Add that to the tendency for us to divide ourselves into opposing factions which stereotype the "others" and anything they think or do as bad, and this is what you get.

Has anyone else noticed that the majority of the country complains REGARDLESS of which party is in office? The problem is not just Democrats. I agree that everyone needs to be careful in whom they vote for, but the truth is that there is hardly ever going to be a good option. I don't know what Obama promised and I don't care--I quit listening to and believing in all politicians, and I can't believe anyone still relies on their word about ANYTHING. It would be nice to have tax breaks, but the bottom line is ALL of these guys say too-good-to-be-true stuff just to get elected. If you seriously think Republicans will be better, you're blind. Remember, we're in this recession, the state of Michigan hit the hardest, BECAUSE OF A REPUBLICAN. Obama just isn't doing anything to get us out, that's all.

There is little difference between the two parties. They are both filled with people from the Political Class. They do what they need to do to stay in office. Few if any of the people in office are Citizen-ledgislators, which is what the founding fathers wanted. People who did a term or two in Congress and returned to their private life. Now we have political dynasties, some families are in the 4th or 5th generation of full-time politics. Most care more for their political careers than for the health of the country.

Doesn't it boggle the mind that people can be so delusional that they "believe" the misinformation and the lies that are commonly found on discredited "news sources" and repeated amongst the blind faithful as though they were the truth? And then the honest person has to start by correcting the facts. It is virtually impossible to have an intelligent and honest debate amongst those conditions!

Don't let a silly thing like facts get in the way of a good rant. <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/taxes/2010-05-10-taxes_N.htm" rel='nofollow'>http://www.usatoday.com/money/perfi/taxes/2010-05-10-taxes_N.htm</a>

Vote Republican from now on ... you're certain to get a tax cut then. Oh wait, you described yourself as middle-income and you're not a corporation. Nevermind.
