Ypsilanti District Library millage is a bargain

By Letters to the Editor

I admit I am a bibliophile and a biblio user. I use books, magazines, DVDs, newspapers, and see many using the computer stations. I go to lots of programs too.

All this is a real bargain. A small millage is on the ballot to support the Ypsilnati District Library during these times of increasing use and dwindling tax base. Please join me in voting yes on Nov. 2 to keep our Ypsilanti libraries (3 branches and bookmobile) alive and vibrant.

I was recently invited to a meeting that took place at the new YDL facility on Whittaker Road in Ypsilanti Twp. Beautiful as that building is, (and if you haven't been over there, you should see for yourself,) I have to say I was even more impressed with what was going on INSIDE the building. Every room, every computer was in use - and kids seemed to be reading or listening to reading everywhere! There was even an AATA using the meeting room adjacent to ours. I'd certainly have to agree with their Millage campaign literature that their use & circulation is extremely high - which has to be a strain on any budget with a millage suffering years of Headlee rollbacks et al. I'm not a resident of their district so I can't vote - but would if I could. This seems like piece of the public sector that is working & working well!
