More than 4,000 affected by power outage in Superior Township

By Kyle Mattson

Editor's note: DTE Energy spokesman Scott Simons said the power was restored to the area sometime overnight.

DTE Energy customers in the Superior Township area lost power after a line of storms passed through just after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the DTE Energy outage map approximately 4,100 customers in the Superior Township were affected.

Additional outages have been reportered across Metro Detroit, including more than 1,000 in the Belleville area.

DTE did not have an estimation for restoration by 10 p.m.

FYI, power was restored (at least in my neighborhood and a couple of surrounding neighborhoods) at about 10:15 p.m.

A few years back, it was possible to talk to a person when DTE power failed. The last time the power failed here, DTE recording gave us an estimated time for restoration and offered a call to tell us why the power failed. This time, the recording had no estimation of the time to restore and offered no explanation of why the power failed. I guess the next step for the next outage will be that the recording won't even answer the phone. I have friends in Kansas and Indiana who are horrified by our power outages we have in this county. They simply don't have this problem. I guess we have just become accustomed to a mediocre power service provider here.
