Pinckney bar holding daylong fundraiser today for clinic destroyed in fire

The Pinckney Pub & Grill is hosting a daylong fundraiser Sunday to raise money to help a local health care clinic that serves the uninsured reopen after a devastating fire.

The Faith Medical Clinic was destroyed in a fire Feb. 18. The clinic housed a program, run by about 30 students from the University of Michigan Medical School, that served uninsured residents. It was funded by the U-M Medical School Dean's office and Michigan Central Student Government.

Clinic founders Laura Goldman and her husband, Dr. Mitchell Goldman, aim to raise $40,000 to obtain a one-year least in nearby Putnam Township.

The Pinckney Pub & Grill will host a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, donation jars and live music all day. The bar is open until 2 a.m.

The business is located at 10292 Dexter-Pinckney Road.

The new temporary location is on Mower Road in Pinckney, the most recent former library. It's larger than the old clinic, and it's modern. The only problem for UM students is they'll have to pass a veterinary clinic, and Dr. Diehr is a dyed in the wool Spartan. Green and white everywhere - especially on game days.

Hmmm, That name Faith is scary...Does it mean that they subscribe to Christian teachings in this medical clinic? Do they help women with their reproductive health? The Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti does not help women at all in this health issue.

Did they not have building insurance on their clinic for uninsured people?
