Pittsfield Township crime statistics for the week of July 5-11
Pittsfield Township police investigated one sexual assault, one home invasion, one attempted home invasion, one car theft and one felonious assault from a motor vehicle last week.
Those were among the department's 268 calls for service between July 5-11, department figures show.
Here's a breakdown of the significant crimes:
Criminal sexual conduct:
July 10: 2600 block of Carpenter Road. Victim reported she was assaulted by an acquaintance and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Suspect has been identified.
Home invasion:
July 7: 3500 block of Fieldcrest Lane. A resident returned home and discovered her brother's friend in the house. The case remains under investigation.
Attempted home invasion:
July 6: 5100 block of Crane Road. A resident returned home and saw someone had cut a hole in a screen of a window and opened the window, but entry was not gained.
Felonious assault of a motor vehicle:
July 9: 7000 block of Michigan Avenue. A store loss prevention officer saw two people concealing merchandise inside a bag. After they left, the employee approached them in the parking lot, and the driver began driving the vehicle at the employee, who jumped out of the way into a flower stand in the garden section as the vehicle passed. The accused shoplifter was arrested, and the driver remains under investigation.
Vehicle theft:
July 5: 5100 block of Carpenter Road. A car hauler trailer was stolen.
