Pittsfield Township firefighters called to three blazes in 30 minutes Sunday
It was a busy morning Sunday for Pittsfield Township firefighters. They were called to battle three blazes in a 30-minute period, according to a press release.
Firefighters were first called about 2:30 a.m. to a brush fire behind a building in the 2400 block of Carpenter Road, the release said. They extinguished that fire, and as they were leaving , they saw smoke coming from a fire in a trash bin behind a hotel in the 2300 block of Carpenter Road, according to the release.
A few minutes later, smoke was seen in the area of the 2200 block of Hogback Road, the realease said. Firefighters found a fire had started in stacks of paper next to a small building and caught an exterior wall, awning and part of the attic on fire. They had the fire under control in about 30 minutes and were able to leave by 6 a.m., according to the release. The building was not occupied and is used for storage, firefighters said.

A well-staffed fire department is the best insurance policy a community can have. It is important with all the cuts to local government coming from the State that local public safety millages are passed. Thank you Pittsfield Fire for being there for our community. I will be voting "yes" on May 3rd to keep you working for our safety!
