Thanks Tru2Blu76 for elaborating. When confronted by this type of ignorance I do really try to refrain from writing a complete thesis on the subject matter. In summary, those who go through the time and expense to carry legally, tend to be quite deliberative in there decisions and less impulsive. Those you see in the news are not likely to be legally carying or have good impulse control. And FYI, from comments in other articles, sir is a madame.

@obviouscomment, That is a really ignorant statement. Really, how that exact scenario working for Chicago? 10 deaths and 44 injured from guns just recently. They've had a handgun ban for many many years. Guess what? The criminals are running the asylum and per the police have more and better arms than them. Law abiding citizens have to risk prison if they want to be able to defend themselves in like manner as the police. How about England? Guns have also been banned there for many many years. Guess what? Gun crimes at an all time high. Home invaders there are MORE likely to invade while the home are occupied than here in America. WHY? Because American criminals are afraid they might meet armed resistance. As for your last comment, in order to walk around with a handgun (concealed) you need a CPL. CPL holders break laws at a lower percentage than "regular" people and even law enforcement. See gunfacts.info for references You might want to come armed to this fight next time.

When my cell phone was stolen in a burglary of my home, I called Verizon to see if I could have them track it... all they could do was look up the numbers called on the phone and then deactivate it. I believe they may need a warrant to track the device down... but am not sure. But I do wonder how much you could possibly get for a cell phone. I would also imagine that the police would devote more effort when a person was in danger of being injured... as opposed to my situation where no one was home and it was entirely property crime. Their effort was minimal in my case, though I can understand why I guess. Hope the guy who was robbed is okay.

that's right...put more guns in the hands of unexperienced people...that will solve everything...you are so blind...a better solution would be no guns, then everyone who had one could automatically be arrested. i know that's not perfect either, but much better than a bunch of people walking around with guns, shooting whoever they want to because they get pissed off.

@1BlockRadius...my mother had a theory on people being mugged...she said that if every law abiding citizen had a permit to shoot just one other person, but not kill them...everyone would be much nicer because they wouldn't know if you had used your permit up on not! An armed society is a free society...

Ricebrbr: You can sell it on ebay for top dollar. Can someone explain to me why more people don't carry concealed? This would have been 2 less criminals in the world, now they're left to do it to more people, spend a year in the clink, rob more people, get rehibilitated, rob more, more jail, etc. Expidite that process w/ a CCW...

Can someone explain to me the purpose of stealing a cell phone? They all have GPS tech in them now right? You don't even need expensive RF equipment to track them anymore. So isn't stealing one more of a liability than a profit? Still the main question is if the police will devote any time or resources for this although violent, small property crime?
