Pittsfield Township police investigate purse-snatching

Two young men snatched a woman's purse from her shopping cart as she prepared to enter a Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft store in Pittsfield Township on Sunday evening, police said.
The incident occurred at about 6:23 p.m. in the 3700 block of Carpenter Road.
Police say the woman had her purse in her shopping cart, and the young men grabbed it and ran. A police tracking dog was called in, but was unable to find the thieves.
The woman was not injured.
The woman described one of the thieves as black, about 14 years old, and wearing a dark colored T-shirt. The other was black, in his early 20s, and had a red T-shirt on.
Police have not made an arrests, as of Monday morning.

The victim had her purse sitting in her shopping cart. I am NOT blaming the victim, but I AM saying 'live smarter.' We're going thru some tough economic times, people. You can't trust ANYBODY. Lock the doors to your home and to your vehicle, and when you're in public, carry your cash, cell phone, I.D. &/or credit card in your pockets. Don't give thieves a chance to take advantage of you. A number of years ago, I was mugged in the parking lot of an Oakland County mall. I was carrying only a clutch-type purse under my arm. A man approached me and asked me the time. When I looked at my watch, he grabbed my purse and ran. Hide your valuables in your pockets; at the very least, shop with a cross-body bag to hold your valuables.

@roadsidedinerlover - Google Maps shows that the 3700 block of Carpenter is that area around McDonalds, Meijers, Gordon Food Service. We shop there often... better keep our eyes open!

I would really like to know where this crime was committed. There are several big stores in that area. Keep your purses on you at all times!
