Pittsfield Township police Taser drunken man accused of assaulting woman, fleeing from officers
A Pittsfield Township police officer Tasered a man who police say assaulted a woman, fled from officers and ran into an open garage in an attempt to get away.
The suspect, a 48-year-old Pittsfield Township resident, has been charged with robbery, fleeing and eluding police, resisting and obstructing, domestic violence, operating a motor vehicle while impaired, and interfering with an electronic communication device.
Officers responded to the 2200 block of Glencoe Hills at about 8:40 p.m. Friday on a report of a man assaulting a woman. Officers were told the man was leaving in a white SUV, and Officer Brian Kabat saw the vehicle heading down Glencoe Hills Drive.
Kabat stopped the driver on Carleton Drive, but the man drove away as Kabat approached the car, reports said. Kabat initiated a pursuit, and the man drove through the subdivision and into a driveway on Oakdale Drive, reports said.
The man ran into an open garage and attempted to get in the house, reports said. Kabat warned the man he would be shot with a Taser, and the man began approaching Kabat in an "aggressive nature," so Kabat fired the Taser, reports said.
The man was arrested and smelled of alcohol, reports said.
The woman suffered minor abrasions from the assault and did not require any medical treatment, police said.
The man was lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail. No information was available on what led to the robbery and interfering charges.

Take away his driving priviledges for life! If we can't get cars banned of course.

Good job Officer Kabat in subduing the suspect. And another drunk driver is off the roads! Until he's let out of course, and Washtenaw judges give him a slap on the wrist....

Another happy tasering incident which didn't lead to any deadly force of use of battery to subdue the perp.
