A man who was hit in the face multiple times with a handgun and shot in the head Monday remains in critical condition at a local hospital, Pittsfield Township police said Tuesday night.

Deputy Police Director Gordy Schick said no arrests have been made in the Monday night assault, which officers believe was drug-related.

The shooting was reported at 11:22 p.m. at 3100 Woodland Hills Dr. inside the Evergreen Apartments complex.

Two men reportedly forced their way into an apartment and assaulted the 31-year-old male resident, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the left temple, police said.

The men involved remain at large, though police were able to interview the victim after he was transported to a local hospital.

“We are actively working the case, but the victim’s medical condition has made our search for details a slow process,” Schick said Tuesday night.

“The victim is not communicating well due to the head injuries sustained in the shooting.”

Brian Rivette, 24, who lives in the building where the shooting occurred, said he left his apartment at about 9:30 p.m. Monday during a power outage and returned a couple hours later to find the building taped off.

A resident on the second floor told Rivette a man who was disoriented and bleeding from the head knocked on his door, asking for help earlier that night.

McKinley, the management at Evergreen Apartments, would not comment Tuesday on the shooting.
