Someone apparently tried to break into a Northfield Township home while the homeowner was away recently, township police reported Sunday.

A family member went to the home in the 4000 Block of Seven Mile Road April 27 to do yard work and discovered the attempted break-in, police said.

The back screen door was damaged, but entry was not gained, police said. No one witnessed the break-in attempt.

Police urged people to report any suspicious activity.
