He was a very close friend of mine, and I'm honestly a little disappointed that this issue never even made it past annarbor.com. I'm not saying this needed to make the front page of any newspaper or end up on channel 3 after it happened, I'm honestly just very disheartened that a follow-up confirming this was a suicide was never posted, anywhere. Awareness could have helped the rest of everyone else help others in his position, even to the slightest extent. Maybe there would be more people asking others if they were okay, around this community. Who knows. In two days, ten months will have passed since this happened and the only train of thought we can chase now is hope, that he's found peace wherever he is, out there, up there, over there now.

Sometimes even people who seem the most together are actually hopeless on the inside. The signs of depression aren't always there, externally. So, to this man's friends and family, I offer my deepest sympathies as you confront your loss. To TruthHurtz, I had a friend commit suicide a few months back. I hope you will take the time to read my blog on my thoughts, as it might help ease your mind at least a little: http://lish-in-mich.blogspot.com/2012/06/you-can-make-plan-carve-it-into-stone.html May you find peace.

Deciding not to kill yourself is really the decision to test the premise which says: "This too will pass." (Or the premise which says: "I can't take it anymore." ) – Me "When you find yourself facing a contradiction, check your premise." – Ayn Rand

What is Holistic Medicine? Most people agree that deaths due to suicide could be prevented but there is no agreement as to how it can be prevented. Very often, we read similar stories about people who have ended their lives without asking for help. A suicide hotline could be useful, but there could be other options to prevent this problem. Our failure to address this problem is related to our inability to define man as a Whole Person. A Psychiatrist or a Clinical Psychologist could be interested to know about mental health issues and a vast number of other medical practitioners may not make a simple inquiry about mental or social aspects that affect the health and well-being of their patients. As a society, we treat the human person as if he has components that work independent of each other. We may have to redefine the way Medicine is practiced in this country.

Kids, your problems are temporary and do not require permanent solutions.

Sad Strange how in some circumstances I would call someone 19 a man. But in this circumstance I think of this person as a child. And I know his parents do.
