Police are searching for Larry Louis Hunter in connection with Saturday's fatal shooting in Superior Township.

Investigators are searching for a 27-year-old man considered the prime suspect in a shooting that left another man dead in Superior Township Saturday afternoon.

Larry Louis Hunter is accused of shooting 30-year-old Jamar Gardner outside the Sycamore Meadows complex in the 8700 block of MacArthur Boulevard. Gardner, who was shot twice, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 3:10 p.m. shooting.

Washtenaw County Sheriff's spokesman Derrick Jackson said the shooting resulted after a fist-fight between several people, including Gardner and Hunter. The motive for the fight remains unclear, he said.

"There was a physical altercation, and someone pulled out a gun," Jackson said.

Gardner, who lived in another part of Superior Township, was at the complex with several friends, Jackson said.

Hunter was accompanied by at least two others, and authorities say they fled the scene with him in a green car.

Police are seeking the other two individuals - 35-year-old Marget Tracy Pittman of Superior Township and 18-year-old LaShawn Antonio Covington - for questioning. Jackson said additional people also could be questioned as the investigation progresses.

Police do not know where Hunter is currently living. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 2 for a preliminary hearing on charges of home invasion and malicious destruction of property, records show.

Jackson said that criminal charge does not appear to be related to the shooting. Hunter is described as black, 6 feet tall, 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on the case or Hunter's whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at (734) 973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAKUP.

First and foremost i want to say my prayers are with Jamar{Black}Gardner and his family! U will be truly missed as a Friend! :( This was another senseless act of violence just cause u have a fight y would it have to end in murder? A child has lost a father a mother and father a child, a sister a brother and most of us a friend.Hunters family will not suffer as much as Blacks Family and Friends Hunter will be able to call his mother and recieve visits what do we have???? Memories!!!! And @ ronn oneal I have no sympathy what so ever for this women she's a single parent of several children what did her act of stupidity teach her children??She did nothing to defuse the situation of all the people involved she was the eldest. Its time for us to stop taking life for granted and live everyday as our last I will continue to keep this family and this community in my prayers and us as single parents need to make better choices what if it was her in Mrs Gardner shoes?? GOD BLESS US ALL

Everybody on side side of ypsi kniws that Hunter as trouble... But the girl tracy? I known her as a sweet girl that may have and Black wasnt an angel. Pull the victims record and the the people have an honest picture of both/ all people involved. My concern is for the female who is a single mother of several children and has now been pulled into some foolishness because Lil Boys gotta act out in anger after a Manly fist sight that should have ended @ when or lose. Everyone in this story is now a victim to the cruel unjustified violence on all inner city/suburban streets. So many have lost in this all around the table. Impraying for the all and really hope that this ends and closes without any more killings, fights, shootings, and more kids losing parents to this and parents losings kids to this..MADNESS in our community. Well Black you will be missed and I pray that your life was not wasted in vain and that a lesson will be learned about taking a street fight, into a murder.. Nobody wins and the community as a whole suffers and loses. I dont want to blame the men in the churches in the community but I know that where I come from it helps when they walk the streets and greet this young men on their turf and when possible defuse similar situations. Imvery sorry that it ended this way and I hope that it stops.. No more shootings or deaths, may God wath over us all....

This is so tragic. Another person shot and killed. Another son, brother, father gone. I can only assume the "shooter" was carrying illegally, which would lead to the next step in criminal activity...using the gun to kill. Too bad the shooter isn't man enough to turn himself in. If only a few young men could stand up and walk like a man....these sad situations wouldn't be happening.

My very own opinion about this is that its wrong to take someones life i beleive god shall only decide who stays an goes n this world My prayers go out to your family,i dont no how people can live knowing they have taken someone elses life they shall feel haunted no matter what the other person have done to them two wrongs will never make a right. My suggeston would be to turn yourselves in,if the police are looking for you and if you are inocent theres no reason to hide people are hurt put it in your position how would you feel ypsi needs to learn to walk away an stop trying to prove how hard or bad you are cause your not your cowards grow up in learn your mistakes instead of making them all the time this larry dude your record is rediculous and then yall involving these kids in this thats scary with the record you got child abuse, domestic violence, third degree murder, and now this you will get life this time you dont always win turn yourself in if all your life is about making ones loose theres and others loved ones he had people who cared about him probly kids nieces and nephews, aunts an uncles,a mother and a father like everyone else what ever it was got to bad an now someones dead for know reason Help are community pray for us all.GODBLESS R.I.P BLACK

It is nice though with these repeat offenders since the police already have their mugshots on file to post.

@tdw I have no idea. The Corrections web site is very limited in what it has (and they are working on it today and tomorrow). His number is an older number so I suspect he has other criminal convictions but someone would need to run him on something like the restricted OMNI system or pay at "The Internet Criminal History Access Tool (ICHAT) allows the search of public records contained in the Michigan Criminal History Record maintained by the Michigan State Police, Criminal Justice Information Center. All felonies and serious misdemeanors that are punishable by over 93 days are required to be reported to the state repository by law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and courts in all 83 Michigan counties." https://apps.michigan.gov/ICHAT/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=/ICHAT/BackgroundSearch.aspx In all likelihood he plead down from something else. He did get sentenced to 1 year to 5 years prison on MCL 257.602A3A Sorry I can't access more.
