Pop bottle bombs left in front yard of Ann Arbor home

By Lee Higgins

Two pop bottle bombs - one of which exploded - were left in the front yard of a home in the 2600 block of Prairie Street on Sunday morning, Ann Arbor police said.

No one was injured. A woman was watching television and her husband was in the shower when there was a knock at the front door at 1:20 a.m., a police report said.

The woman opened the door and found "smoldering remnants" of a "pop bottle bomb" in the front yard, the report said. The top blew off of another pop bottle bomb in the yard, according to the report.

So far, no arrests have been made.

Earlier this year, Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies warned of pop bottle bombs left in yards in York Township.

Anyone with information can call the police department's confidential tip line at (734) 794-6939.

It's hard to tell whether 'snapshot' is serious or not. I for one think everyone should be packing in their robes at 1am. Just shoot the pop bottles before they can do any damage to you. Much faster than the police, right? Constant vigilance.

The police should also check with science teachers in the area to see if they have had any class time talking about this chemical reaction, if it's kids a visit to a class by an investigating officer asking for info may turn something up. The police should be involved in an aggressive investigation to catch these guys and let them know their after them. I consider this more important than parking or traffic violations. Ann Arbor citizens are in danger. The fire department should be involved too. I think they can catch these guys.

This is domestic terrorism. The police and papers ought to publish the punishment for parents and schools to discuss with their kids. Maybe if it is a kid and they find out they could be sent to prison for life, or whatever, as a terroist they'll back off. Start with the schools and parents in the area these things were found. If it's kids, they probably live nearbye.
