Power outage along Packard closes Burns Park Elementary
Update: Power has been restored. DTE Energy said the cause was a cable failure.
A power outage across a central Ann Arbor neighborhood that was affecting traffic signals this morning also is resulting in Burns Park Elementary being closed for the day.
Neither students nor staff were to report to the building, according to Ann Arbor Public Schools.
Ann Arbor police dispatches indicate that signals along Packard are affected, as well as a portion of East Stadium near the road construction west of South Industrial.
DTE Energy has been contacted. An early estimate indicates it should be restored by 12:30 p.m.
Officials said the cause may be due to a blown transformer in the area. No downed wires have been located.
According to the DTE Energy outage map, an estimated 1,444 customers have been affected. The outage was reported at 6:30 a.m.
