Remember those local soldiers who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan

U.S. Marine Min Hee "Andy" Kim (Andy), a graduate of Pioneer High School, was killed Nov. 1, 2006, three days after his 20th birthday, in Fallujah, Iraq, by enemy gunfire.

Here are the names of area soldiers killed since Sept. 11, 2011, in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The information includes age, hometown, date of death, military rank, branch of service, how they were killed and where they died (city, province).

Iraq

• Donald R. McCune, 20, Ypsilanti 08/05/2004, Specialist. Army National Guard. IED attack. Died in an American hospital in Germany.

• Gerald M. Bloomfield II, 38, Ypsilanti 11/02/2005, Major. Marine. Helicopter crash due to hostile fire. Ramadi (near), Anbar.

• Curtis T. Howard II, 32, Ann Arbor 2/22/2006. Staff Sergeant. Army. IED attack. Balad (northeast of), Salah ad Din.

• Clifford R. Collinsworth, 20, Chelsea 10/21/06. Lance Corporal. Marine. IED attack. Ramadi (near), Anbar.

• Gary A. Koehler, 21, Ypsilanti 11/01/06. Lance Corporal. Marine. Hostile fire. Haditha, Anba.

• Minhee Kim, 20, Ann Arbor 11/01/06, Lance Corporal. Marine Reserve. Hostile fire. Fallujah, Anbar.

• Andrew P. Daul, 21, Brighton 12/19/06. Specialist, U.S. Army. IED attack. Hit, Anbar.

• Wilson A. Algrim, 21, Howell 12/23/2006. Private 1st Class. Army National Guard. IED attack. Salman Pak, Babil.

Afghanistan

• Benjamin P. Castiglione, 21, Howell 09/03/2009. Petty Officer 3rd Class, Navy. Hostile fire. Helmand.

• Joel C. Gentz, 25, Grass Lake 06/09/2010. 1st Lieutenant. Air Force. Helicopter crash due to hostile fire. Sangin district.

• Dominic J. Ciaramitaro, 19, South Lyon 4/23/2011. Lance Corporal. Marine. IED attack. Helmand.
