By AnnArbor.com Staff

The primary election isn’t until next August, but the race for state representative for the 55th District is starting to take shape.

Today, York Township resident Rick Olson announced in a press release that he's throwing his hat in the race to fill the seat currently held by Kathy Angerer. A third-term Democrat, Angerer cannot run for reelection under term limits.

Olson, who is running as a Republican, joins Republican Joe Zurawski of Washtenaw County and Democrat Mike Smith of Monroe County, who are considering running for the 55th District seat.

The 55th District includes Pittsfield, Saline and York townships in Washtenaw County, along with Milan, Dundee, Summerfield, Whiteford, Bedford and Erie Townships in Monroe County.
