Road work begins next week at Rawsonville and Bemis intersection

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Work will begin Tuesday at the intersection of Rawsonville and Bemis roads near the Ypsilanti and Augusta township border, the Washtenaw County Road Commission says.

The project is expected to wrap up by mid-September.

The intersection improvements include the addition of left-turn lanes and a traffic signal. Related work will include storm sewer installation, concrete curb and gutter construction and hot mix asphalt paving, officials said.

Portable electronic message signs are now in the area to inform passing motorists of the impending construction, and temporary construction signs were installed.

Two-way traffic on both Rawsonville Road and Bemis Road will be maintained during construction, officials said. However, the work will require intermittent lane closures and flagging operations.

The posted speed limit on Rawsonville Road and Bemis Road will be reduced to 35 mph for the duration of construction.

Traffic delays are expected, and motorists are advised to seek alternate routes whenever possible.

Brilliant! Now everyone going south who would've used Rawsonville instead of Whittaker (roundabout construction) will get caught no matter what way they go!
