Road work starts today at Carpenter-Willis intersection in York Township

By AnnArbor.com Staff

Starting today, expect to see construction crews at the intersection of Carpenter and Willis roads in York Township.

Washtenaw County Road Commission officials say the project consists of constructing center, left-turn lanes on each leg of the intersection, a right-turn lane on the west leg of the intersection and installing a traffic signal.

Both Carpenter and Willis roads will remain open to traffic for now, but lane restrictions and flagging operations are expected to result in delays, officials said.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department is expected to have extra enforcement activities in the area to ensure speed limits are being followed around the construction zone.

Seems like thats some bad timing. Isn't NB US-23 still down to one lane just North of Willis? A lot of traffic was using Carpenter last week to avoid this.
