Rockin' for the Hungry reaches 175 tons of food
The Rockin' for the Hungry "Carrotometer" is filling up.
As the annual event got under way today - Day 4 of its 5-day run - more than 125 tons of food had been collected. By 4:40 p.m., that climbed to 175 tons.
The Food Gatherers fundraiser is getting close to reaching - and possibly surpassing - its goal of 200 tons by the time the event wraps up Sunday.

Officials say the need for food is greater than ever this year as more families are struggling, and poverty in the Ann Arbor area rises.
The annual Rockin' event is sponsored by ann arbor's 107one and Busch's on South Main Street, where the event is taking place. Busch's is offering of pre-bagged quantities customers can purchase for $10 and give to program.
The radio station is broadcasting from outside the store, where a Food Gatherers representative is also stationed, and bins are waiting for donations.
Food Gatherers is the area's largest food rescue and collection organization and distributes more than 4.6 million pounds of food annually.
The event runs through tomorrow at Busch's off South Main Street.
