Rudolf Steiner School Top Scholars

Rudolf Steiner will hold its 2013 graduation ceremonies Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at the University of Michigan Union. The class includes 31 graduates.

Ruby An
Parents: Larry An & Eileen Ho
Activities and Awards: Ruby enjoys playing soccer and was a leading member of her high school’s first Varsity Women’s Soccer team and continued as an All-Conference level player for four successful team seasons. She also ran Cross Country, trained and hiked as a student leader for the Hiking Club on annual trips to the Smokies, and worked on 360 Garden Club projects. She performed cello in school ensembles and regional orchestras, participated as an honored delegate at Model UN conferences, and co-founded and conducted research with the Science Club. Her passions for reading and mathematics led her through many books at the public library and fostered her explorations of advanced mathematics at the University of Michigan. Ruby was honored to be her school nominee for the Michigan Scholar-Athlete Award and also earned recognition as a National Merit Finalist.
Plans After Graduation: Ruby looks forward to pursuing a liberal arts education at the University of Chicago, studying with a focus on mathematics and science, playing lots of soccer, and studying some more.

Madeleine Bradford
Parents: Jeannette Jackson and Robert Bradford
Activities and Awards: Madeleine is a devoted member of the 826Michigan writer’s community. She is the recipient of three national writing awards from the Alliance of Young Artists and Writers through which she was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Kenyon Young Writer’s Workshop in the summer of 2012. At the regional level, she won six gold awards for her short stories and poems including two out of the five Vision and Voices Medals awarded for the region. She was awarded first place in the It’s All Write! Ann Arbor District Library writing contest in 2011 and 2012, and she has been published in various 826Michigan publications, as well as a few outside of 826. She is the founder of the Creative Writing Club at The Rudolf Steiner High School of Ann Arbor.
Plans After Graduation: Madeleine will be attending Kenyon College.
