A wayward Saline chicken was found downtown last weekend near the corner of Henry and South Ann Arbor streets.
A concerned citizen flagged down a Saline Police officer on Saturday and with the help of several others chased down the pretty buff-and-white colored chicken. The group cornered and captured it before it crossed the busy roadway.
Once the bird was in hand, Saline police called David Rhoads, president of the Saline Area Historical Society, to ask if the runaway chicken could join the flock that lives at the Rentschler Farm, which is maintained by the historical society.
Rhoads said the officer drove to the farm on US-12 with one arm cradling the chicken and the other on the steering wheel.
"He didn't want to let it loose in the patrol car," Rhoads said.

"It's being well taken care of, fed and watered, and living with the other chickens here," he said
If anyone recognizes this chicken, contact Rhoads at 216-7473. He said it's friendly and thinks it's someone's pet or show chicken.
