City of Saline named best place in Michigan to raise kids
Saline has earned a place on Bloomberg Businessweek's list of Best Places to raise Kids and been named the best in Michigan.
The story cites the city's annual Celtic Festival, w which is celebrates with its sister city — Brecon, in Wales. The report also highlights it's proximity to Ann Arbor, which it says offers a range of activities from university athletic events to a unique art scene.
Other cities included were Rogers, Minn., Geneva, Ill., and Walnut, Calif.

Well the picture is of the Celtic festival. So let me rate it. I will give it a 4 out of 10. It takes place in the hottest part of the summer and there is virtually no shade to get relief . The food vending options are sub par and everything seems to be too spread out. So because this photo has been used as the beacon for Salines new status I am afraid that this designation will have to be withdrawn. I am sorry for this news but fair is fair. However, a reconsideration can be made at a later date if they make some improvements to the festival or stop using a picture of it as their public image.

The best place to raise my kids is in my home. What a ignorant and thoughtless headline.

"Sniff" How can it be? WE are the mostest bestest place in the WHOLE wide world. Everybody knows that. Somebody must have fixed the election. It just can't be.

My Irish parents told me the Welsh were renowned for their parades, said to be miles long yet five feet high.

School is for reading, writing and arithmetic. Plenty of diversity on their soccer team.

Yes...we are greatly lacking in diversity. My neighbors hated my rainbow flag so much that now I have to put it on my back deck, where no one (unless your walking in my yard) can see it.

Yes, they have some fine second cutting hay in those fields, The goats sure love it. Makes for happy kids. Ann Arbor probably is a good place to be FROM.

See what happens when you voluntarily say your pledge in school. And your relatives are not English, Irish, or Scotish. And you live outside of, but not too far from, Anon Arbor. llongyfarchiadau !

I see your comments and often agree with them, but you are a strange person.

I would not want to be on that list if I were a Saline resident. It is almost a dare to some young thugs to want to spoil that honor. It definitely is an award to be proud of however I would rather keep it on the DL.

Saline doesn't have a public fountain, theodynus, but you're welcome to look around. I think you may get arrested if you dump in public though.. I'm proud to be born, raised and still living in Saline. I know my kids like it here.

Yeah, back when I was a kid, growing up on the south side, I'd make sure to pick up a copy of Businessweek any time they were going to have one of those "Best Places" articles. We'd try to visit all Top 10 Places to Live over the course of the year and take a dump in their public fountains. They ALWAYS had public fountains!
