High-speed chase ends with stolen vehicle crashing into tree

By Kyle Feldscher

Three people were arrested and one escaped Friday after leading police on a high-speed chase in a reportedly stolen car, according to a Saline Reporter story.

According to the report, the vehicle had been reported stolen from Adrian and Clinton Township police officers stopped it just outside the city. The driver of the vehicle then took off during the traffic stop toward Saline, reaching speeds of 110 miles per hour.

The chase eventually ended when the vehicle crashed into a tree near South Harris Street and Pleasant Ridge Drive. Two of the vehicle’s occupants were taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, one was in police custody and police are searching for the other occupant, according to the report.

Maybe the wind blew the car into the tree?

I wondered when this would be reported. It has been a few days ago. Hopefully someone will identify the guy who got away so he can share in the results of his joy ride.

So if the initial theft was just joyriding....which is a misdemeanor if I'm not mistaken.....they escalated it to fleeing and eluding at a minimum which is a felony. Way to go guys....you wouldn't have even caught jailtime before. Now you are DEFINITELY going to jail.

Is there really anything called "joyriding" in the legal system? I would think auto theft is auto theft. And I'm guessing when you do it while in possession of a firearm it's even more serious.

Where do you get joyriding? I don't see any mention of that in either article.

You are mistaken, it is a 5-year felony. Certainly fleeing and eluding won't help their case. The tree always wins these battles...
