“An address change prompts me to leave public office. After today, I will no longer reside in the City of Saline and must give up my seat on council,” he wrote. Ivey is listed as the circulation director at the Durango Herald in Durango, Colo.

His seat is one of three up for election in November, and the City Council has 60 days to appoint someone to finish out the term that will end Jan. 1, 2012.

The seats of Glenn Law, Linda Terharr and Ivey, are up for re-election and petitions are due by 4 p.m. on Aug. 16 by 4 p.m.

Ivey was also the Mayor Pro Tem of Saline.

It’s expected that the City Council will accept the letter of resignation on July 11 at its next regular meeting.
