Saline home damaged in early-morning fire
Authorities in Saline are investigating the cause of an early-morning house fire on West Henry Street, Saline Fire Chief Craig Hoeft said.
Firefighters were called by a neighbor who smelled smoke and noticed the house was on fire at about 12:20 a.m., Hoeft said. There was heavy smoke showing when firefighters arrived, but they contained the blaze quickly.
No one was injured, and firefighters learned the residents were away on a weekend trip.
Hoeft also said the household cat survived the fire and was in good condition. Initial damage estimates to the home exceed $20,000.
The cause remains undetermined, and police officials are assisting with the investigation.
