Saline police arrest man wanted in several states on fraud charges
A Saline Township man was extradited to Illinois on multiple felony warrants and could face fraud charges in three different states, police reports said.
Thomas Loomis, 33, is charged with felony larceny in Illinois and also faces charges in Nebraska for fleeing to avoid prosecution in the past two years.
He was arrested after trying to drive away from police officers who were watching his home on Riverview Circle Drive on Oct. 4.
Saline Police Sgt. Kevin Murphy said investigators learned of Loomis’ criminal past when he became a suspect for passing a bad check at a local tire store in September. That case has been forwarded to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for review, but any charges wouldn't be addressed until the out-of-state cases are resolved, he added.
Loomis reportedly came to Michigan with his wife and young child within the past year, police said.
