Saline Reporter: Saline teen center offers safe alternative for students to gather
Saline teens looking for something to do, along with parents looking for somewhere safe to send their kids, have an option — The Fifth Corner teen center.
According to the Saline Reporter, all teens in the Saline school district, grades six through 12 are welcome at the nonprofit center, which also goes by TC5.
The Reporter said the center, located in Saline at 211 Willis Road, offers teens a safe environment and the opportunity to get involved with programs they want to see created.
"It's a student-led center. So when they come to me with some sort of idea, we'll take that idea and turn it into a program," Program Director Carla Freeman told the Reporter. "So, it's a place where students can actually tell me what they want to do and then we can make that happen."
The center, which opened its doors in 2010, offers Mac computers for gaming as well as school work, air hockey tables, video games, boardgames, foosball and provides snacks for teens to purchase, said the Reporter.
