Saline woman enters plea deal on reduced charge of filing false police report

By Art Aisner

A Saline woman admitted in a hearing in Washtenaw County Circuit Court that she falsified a police report to cover up a hit-and-run crash.

Records show Michelle Dollar avoided trial on felony charges that accused her of claiming her car was stolen from her driveway in May by pleading guilty to an added count of leaving the scene of a property damage crash.

She also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of filing a false police report and faces up to 93 days in jail at her sentencing on Jan. 10.

Dollar, 44, was arrested after Saline police and a Washtenaw County sheriff’s deputy debunked her story that the vehicle was stolen while she took an afternoon nap on May 4. The vehicle was impounded by the sheriff’s department after it was discovered with front-end damage by a deputy investigating a hit-and-run crash nearby.

Dollar was charged and released on a personal bond, but was rearrested after failing to show for a preliminary hearing in June.

Her attorney, Greg Worker, could not be reached for comment.
