A team headed up by Saline resident Elizabeth Caswell is leading the pack in fund-raising for the upcoming Ann Arbor/Dexter 2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Caswell’s team, 3 Caz 4 a Cure had raised $30,584 as of 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation website. The team’s goal is $35,000.

Caswell herself had raised $11,379. Her goal was $10,000

Two of Caswell’s three sons and her husband have type 1 diabetes. Her 11-year-order son was diagnosed with the disease two weeks ago, according to an article in the Saline Reporter. Her 8-year-old son was diagnosed in 2007, and her husband has had the disease since he was 18, the newspaper reported.

The walk is Sept. 23 at Hudson Mills Metropark.

Many thanks to our family, friends, walkers, donors, McKInley, UGP, Goldfish Swim School, and Tippins for your support of us and donations to the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. The walk is a wonderful event and we hope more community members will come out to participate!
