Saline reporter: Saline woman's team raises more than $30,000 for diabetes fundraising walk

A team headed up by Saline resident Elizabeth Caswell is leading the pack in fund-raising for the upcoming Ann Arbor/Dexter 2012 Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Caswell’s team, 3 Caz 4 a Cure had raised $30,584 as of 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, according to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation website. The team’s goal is $35,000.

Caswell herself had raised $11,379. Her goal was $10,000

Two of Caswell’s three sons and her husband have type 1 diabetes. Her 11-year-order son was diagnosed with the disease two weeks ago, according to an article in the Saline Reporter. Her 8-year-old son was diagnosed in 2007, and her husband has had the disease since he was 18, the newspaper reported.

The walk is Sept. 23 at Hudson Mills Metropark.
