If you're looking for something to do with Dad on Father's Day, you might want to head to Saline, where nearly 75 sports cars will line the streets for the 5th Annual Sportscars to Saline car show.

The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on Michigan Avenue and Ann Arbor streets in downtown Saline. Both the north and south sides of Ann Arbor Street will be closed for pedestrian traffic.

Elvin Davis and his award winning 1980 MGB were one of about 40 sportscars that lined Ann Arbor Street in downtown Saline Sunday during the 2008 Sportscars to Saline event.

“It’s a good Father’s Day deal,” Organizer John Gilroy said. “If the dad wants to grab the kids and come look at some really great cars, it’s a really good deal.”

Gilroy is part of the Huron Valley Corvette Club, which is presenting the car show along with the Saline Downtown Merchants Association.

Unlike other area car shows, Sportscars to Saline will feature only sports cars, meaning all cars can have no more than two seats. Gilroy said displayed brands will include Ferrari, Mazzerati, Porsche, Corvette and Miata, among others.

“There’s going to be a little bit of everything, as far as sports cars are concerned,” he said.

In addition to the car display, Gilroy said there will also be a DJ and a popcorn vendor. But the main focus, he said, is on the cars.

“It’s just a good car show,” he said.
