Skateboarders escorted from Michigan Stadium
Police responded to Michigan Stadium twice on Saturday to remove people who were not permitted on the premises.

The second time, around 4:16 p.m., four people were found skateboarding inside the stadium.
In both incidents, those violating the rules were given verbal warnings and told to leave. There was no property damaged in either incident, said U-M Department of Public Safety Spokeswoman Diane Brown.
Brown said it’s difficult to compare from year to year whether unwanted people are found around the stadium more commonly during the summer, when students are not around campus.
Only after recent construction on the stadium does it remain on lock-down all day when not in use, she said.

Strange. 3 weeks ago the police forced someone to the ground at gunpoint up the street from me handcuffed and took them away. And I have been diligently watching to see what it was about but I have seen no mention of it. Now this "story" appears. Pitiful!

Is this what they call "micro-local" news? It's definitely local, and the news content is really, really "micro" . Maybe even "pico" Guess we are just lucky that there is nothing important going on in this town.

Were the skateboarders kids or adults? I remember skating at the stadium over 60 years ago. Those were the days when skates clamped onto your shoes. I could start on one of the ramps leading to the bleachers and come sailing down around the perimeter....until the caretaker who lived in a house right on the grounds discovered me and chased me off! I'm sure I was not the only kid who engaged in this delightful infraction. Kids need to feel like they can get away with something as long as it is relatively harmless. No damage was done by me, and apparently no damage was done by these modern day trespassers either. But someone is bound to site what "could have happened" but didn't.

Here are some other headlines that would have worked for this story: "People Found Walking in Michigan Stadium" "People in Michigan Stadium Asked to Leave. They do" "UM Official: Unwanted People Continue to be Found Around Stadium" "No Property Damage in Michigan Stadium Following Walking, Skateboarding Incident"

I think they were trying to do a grind into a fakey.

I remember being able to hang out at the 50 yard line back in the 80s whenever we felt like it. Now we have a police state and still no skate park.

Davidian, you missed the point. And that thing at Vets all those years ago never counted as a skatepark.

No skate park? Hey man, they had that vert ramp at Vets. It was only considered one of the most dangerous and poorly designed halfpipes in the country LOL

This is only to be expected in the wake of the recent rescission of lifetime trespass bans on campus. I wonder if the socialist liberals responsible for this country's sad decline have even considered that in a few short weeks the campus will be clogged with frisbee-throwing anarchists, at least some of whom will try to sneak ham sandwiches and contraband bottles of water into the Big House. Concealed carry permits and easily accessible Tazer recharging stations in and near the stadium would allow right-minded Maize-and-Blue supporters to nip this kind of thing in the bud. That, and a timely restoration of capital punishment.

I sure hope this comment was made tongue in cheek. I thought this kind of thinking went out in the '50's.

Nice. And what does it say about typical reader comments that you had me going until about "ham sandwiches"?

A totemic moment in the ongoing immersion of Ann Arbor into the cesspool of post-Apocalyptic crime and degradation. Oh, the horror.

It used to be open during the day. It's unfortunate that this is no longer the case. I'm a bit weary of the rules being written for the 0.1% of the population who are problematic, to the detriment of the vast majority.

Sounds like a slow news day in Ann Arbor - sleepy, college town seems to fit today. Leave the poor kids alone!

Well jeez I hope they were read the riot act and then banned for life. Also nice to know that a supposedly secure area, with fences and guards can be breached at will. Anyone feeling safer on U of M property yet?

Lol really? Fences can easily be climbed over... especially by people like skaters.
