Slippery roads create vehicle collisions around Washtenaw County
The snow falling throughout the day has created hazardous driving conditions and several traffic crashes around the area, according to Washtenaw County Central Dispatch.
One serious incident involved 45 vehicles and closed northbound US-23 just south of Milan.
Another crash on southbound US-23 north of Geddes involves several vehicles, although the freeway remained open, an officer with Central Dispatch said. Huron Valley Ambulance spokeswoman Joyce Williams said one ambulance responded to the scene of that incident, but no one required transport to a hospital.
A less serious accident was been reported on eastbound M-14 near Vorhies, Central Dispatch said. Williams said that crash involved a single vehicle that slid into a ditch, but no serious injuries were reported.
A small incident at Fifth Avenue and Liberty Street briefly impacted traffic in downtown Ann Arbor, Central Dispatch said.
Another multi-vehicle crash has also been reported on I-94 in Wayne County's Van Buren Township.
No further information on the crashes was available, but police advise extreme caution on the roadways. Snow squalls may continue to create difficult conditions throughout the afternoon.
