Some Ann Arbor area residents lose power Monday evening

By Tina Reed

A number of Ann Arbor residents - and some in Pittsfield Township - are without power Monday evening after a line of storms moved through the area earlier in the day, according to a DTE Energy spokeswoman.

About 1,200 households in the Ann Arbor area were reported without power, said spokeswoman Eileen Dixon.

DTE Energy was responding to at least 21,000 customers systemwide who had lost power, which Dixon categorized as a large number of customers, but "not a catastrophic storm."

Earlier this evening, crews were dispatched and were hoping to have power up and running to all customers by midnight, Dixon said.

However, that could depend on a number of factors, including ongoing storms moving through the area, she said.

racerx, we're neighbors! We do lose power a LOT. It's frustrating. Usually, it returns faster than it did yesterday. But there wasn't really any high winds nor was the storm that severe, compared to the one we had a few weeks ago! DTE really does need to do something.

I live in the Arbor Woods subdivision off of Packard bewteen Carpenter and Golfside. Saw the fire trucks with Packard street closed between Burton and White Castle. This transformer is a constant issue with DTE. Our sub loses power at the slightest thunderstorm. Really wish there was an alternative power company. It's just so annoying. Some times there doesn't have to be a thunderstorm, just high winds will do the same thing in this area.

Edward, by 8pm, the map was showing "no outages" and the phone system was so screwed up, we couldn't get through. We were a little disappointed that there was no report here, earlier! I guess that's the downside of a holiday power outage?

Thanks for the map though by looking at it I cannot see the affected areas. I live on the west side (Pauline and Stadium) and did not have electricity 2 hours ago hence I left home. Is is possible to have more details possible with the streets involved.
