Stadium Boulevard east of Main Street and west of South Industrial has been reopened to traffic now that repairs have been completed on a large water main break that occurred across from Crisler Arena this morning.
The city had to shift snow removal crews away from their duties to help investigate the break, Ann Arbor officials said.
Craig Hupy, the city's systems planning manager, said the water main failure was on a hydrant branch. As of 4 p.m., he said, the pipe serving the hydrant has been isolated and water has been placed back in service.
Hupy announced in an e-mail this morning the plan for snow plowing during the current snow storm is to focus on major streets and salt routes during the day today and into the night. He said there will be 24-hour coverage (two 12-hour shifts) for major streets and salt routes during the storm.
Hupy said the city is expecting the storm to last into mid-day Wednesday, with the bulk of the snow falling late evening and early morning, and high winds on Wednesday. Based on that forecast, he said, the plan is to begin plowing local streets at 6 a.m.
Depending on the actual amount of the snow, how long the snow continues into Wednesday, and winds, Hupy said local street plowing should be finished Thursday morning.
