Those are some of the insights Sue Snyder, Michigan’s first lady, revealed about herself in a rare and wide-ranging interview published in The Detroit News today.

Snyder had breast cancer 8 years ago, leading her to make breast cancer awareness one of her causes, The News reported. She served as an honorary chairwoman of the Susan G. Komen Detroit Race for the Cure in May.

She is also a spokeswoman for Ele's Place, an organization in Lansing and Ann Arbor that supports children who are grieving from the death of a loved one.

Promotion of Cancer awareness : While promoting awareness of Cancer, we need to promote the understanding of human organism, its structure and function. The human being like other things has matter and form. The form is derived from the shape, and size of trillions of individual cells. A problem like Cancer will compel us to understand the cells of the human body. The cells are autonomous and the human individual has very little capacity to directly rule or govern the functions of these cells. Fortunately, the cells display functional subordination and serve the purpose of the whole organism. When a cell turns cancerous, it stops serving the purpose of the organism. Since man has no direct ability to instruct his own cells to behave better, he would be forced to literally kill these unruly cancerous cells. The surgical, medical, and other interventions aim at curing cancer by killing the cells which fail to show functional harmony. Man keeps his existence if there is functional harmony and unity of the cells of his body. That speaks of man's relationship, partnership, or association with his own cells, the functional units of his body. If this relationship is based upon feelings of sympathy, and understanding, man thrives and lives his course of life without problems. I describe the nature of this relation between man and his body as that of a spiritual kind. The living substance is spiritual in nature and its relationship with the 'form' as represented by the individual cell and the whole organism is a spiritual relationship. To prevent the problem of Cancer, we need spiritual understanding of human nature and existence.

"She agrees with her husband politically." Go to any hospital in the state and you'll see good, decent, innocent people, many of them children, dying of cancer, and we're supposed to feel for a woman with morals like hers just because she survived breast cancer? Just like her husband, the only people she advocates for are the wealthy. This article makes me sick.

Without knowing her personally, your statement is cruel. She may have the same political beliefs as her husband (which are most likely opposed to yours), however she is a kind and caring individual. Hopefully the programs she supports will be available to you in the event you need them.

I would agree also with his decisions as Governor, with a savings account like this couple have. Snyder could care less what we think. His tens of millions of dollars are his when he leaves office. He paid $6 million to get the job of Governor. Gov. Snyder Puts Investments In Blind Trust Exact Net Worth Of Rick Snyder Not Known LANSING, Mich. -- Multimillionaire Rick Snyder has put his personal investments into a blind trust to avoid any potential conflict of interest while he's Michigan governor. Snyder spokeswoman Geralyn Lasher gave The Associated Press the preamble to the blind trust on Friday. In it, Snyder said he wishes "scrupulously to avoid the possibility" that any decision he makes as governor could be influenced by his financial interests. Lasher said she doesn't know how much money the former Gateway computer executive and venture capitalist has in the trust. Snyder spent nearly $6 million of his own money in his successful race to become Michigan's 48th governor. The 51-year-old Republican signed the paperwork amending his trust two days before he was sworn in as governor on Jan. 1. A trustee will now make all investment decisions. Several published reports were unable to nail down exactly how much Snyder is worth, but being that in the last year of his tenure at Gateway saw sales reach $5 billion, it's most likely in the tens of millions of dollars.

Are you saying that a poor person with no bank account would do a better job of moving the economy forward and creating jobs in this state than someone with a business background?

Someone does something good and people start gnashing their teeth and judging her "real" intentions on this blog. So classy!

Sue, Thanks for all you do and congratulations for beating cancer. Keep up the good work. And I wish you good health! And Sue, do you think health care for all might improve the odds in the fight against cancer? Will the increase in the uninsured from 44 million to 52 million help? Which party do you think will cut the most funding from gov't sponsored cancer research? Just curious? Your response would show that you aren't doing this for the PR benefit as some skeptics allege.

She probably believes people should get private insurance to pay for their OWN medical bills or pay the bills themselves. However I doubt she would disagree if YOU wanted to be a good Samaritan and pay medical insurance for the poor out of your OWN money. Thanks!

Typical right wing Det News PR piece. Know anyone whose family isn't affected by cancer? I don't and we feel badly every time. But I do know some who did not have insurance and couldn't get good medical care. That is even worse. Det News glazed over the death of Mrs Josiatis of Focus Hope last week......and I couldn't help but think how this miracle worker was the Anti-Snyder. She got corporate and government entities to give to Focus Hope so that she could feed the poor, 40,000 per month, many who are elderly and train the poor so htat they could get jobs. Snyder takes from the elderly and poor in tax increases and gives the money to corporate entities.

Seriously this is nothing more than a public relations campaign to take the focus of the evil Rick Snyder. So Transparent it is!
