Superior Township homeowner scares away would-be burglars
A Superior Township homeowner scared off would-be burglars early today, the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department reported.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Savannah Lane.
According to a sheriff's summary, someone was attempting to enter the home through the front door, but the homeowner scared them away. Nothing was taken.
The homeowner was unable to describe the attempted burglars or the vehicle they fled in, other than to say it had a loud muffler, the summary said.

Forget the dog. Beware the owner. My house, 3 AM, you are at my front door trying to come in. I will be waiting.

gibby76....with the number of robberies and home invasions taking place all over, why would you think this was in anyway a prank? People should not get the idea they can start scaring off burglars? Are you kidding? Is it against the law or something? What should one do, invite them in and show them where the valuable items are kept? I will protect what is mine from thieves. A victim mentality is what criminals thrive on. I'm with you swcornell, just not a shotgun...racking a handgun makes a notable point as well.

My friends call before they come at 03:00. At my house the sound of my shotgun pump should be enough to scare them away!

"As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. `'Tis some visitor,' I muttered, `tapping at my chamber door - Only this, and nothing more.'" Sounds like someone had the wrong house, or a "friend" was playing a prank on them. People should not get the idea they can start scaring burglars away, that's how people end up hurt. I wonder how well patrolled the Pulte village there is.
