Superior Township resident bound, robbed in his residence

By AnnArbor.com Staff

A Superior Township resident was bound and robbed by two men who claimed to be looking for a dog Sunday, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.

The resident, who lives in the 5000 block of Vreeland Road, said he answered the front door, and the man at the door asked whether he had seen his dog, a sheriff's summary said.

The resident told police a second man got out of a red car and charged at him, then placed something in his back. The resident was then assaulted and overpowered by the two men, who tied him up and took items from his house, the summary said.

It took the victim several hours to break free after the robbers fled, police said.

Jewelry, collectable coins, an unknown amount of cash and a cell phone were taken, reports said.

One of the robbers was described as white, about 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a heavy build and wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. The other was wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the hood concealing his face and was about 6 feet 1 inches tall and had a thin build.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 734-973-7711.

I'm sorry to easy to be a victim, more people commiting crimes need to be shot, and then I suspect crime would go down.

@DDOT1962 What is more disturbing is that many like you: 1) Think self defense is the same as vigilantism, it is not. 2) Expect mercy from those who's job is to victimize you, their main tool towards this goal is the threat of force, great bodily harm up to and including death of you and yours. 3) Argue basically that the well being of an attacker is more important than the well being of the victim 4) That by necessity the corollary to this argument is that you willingly offer up your life and the lives of your loved ones to the discretion of someone who has already decided those are forfeit IF they do not get what they want AND even sometimes if they do. 5) Think that all the criminal may want are things you own but sometimes they ONLY WANT YOU or your loved one. 6) Think things are inherently good or evil. Owning matches does not make one an arsonist. Owing a Koran does not make one a Terrorist. Owning a gun does not make one a criminal. I hope that you get to live your life in peace, I really do. I hope that you never have to regret your "principles"

I'll take my chances unarmed in this society, thank-you. You guys that advocate more guns and vigilantism creep me out.

The most dangerous illusion is the illusion of safety. You wouldn't go out unarmed with a bear but you will with a stranger. The stranger is far more likely to do you harm than the bear.

I'd like to start hearing more stories where home owners or the people being robbed shoot and kill the criminals. It's good that the guy is alive, but the only reason is because the robbers CHOSE to keep him alive. The last thing I'd want is for someone else to decide whether I live or die.... being powerless is a shame. We all have the right to keep and bear arms. Also, man.... that Superior Township is TROUBLE!

David, David, why such a pessimist? Go to keepandbeararms.com and read how many have faced just this adversity and prevailed.

Yeah, if he had a gun the criminals would now possess a deadly weapon! But you would be happy!

Wow pretty scary isn't it? Not so crazy for serious gunnies to carry their defensive firearms even at home now huh? The homeowner should count himself lucky to have survived relatively unscathed. Be careful out there! 1*
