By AnnArbor.com Staff

A Superior Township resident was sprayed in the face with mace and robbed of cash and a television Thursday evening, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Department.

The three robbers, two men and a woman, talked their way into the residence in the 9100 block of MacArthur Boulevard at about 8:45 p.m., a sheriff's summary said.

Detailed descriptions of the robbers and other details weren't available this morning.

ANYONE who opens their door at that time of night in that neighborhood had better have a AK-47,M-16,or Glock 40 cal. in there hand or close by.

I think it would be helpful, and informative to local residents, if reports such as this would indicate the apartment complex that this reported robbery occurred in. As always, it seems, it locates it as "9100 block of MacArthur Boulevard"; a quick Google Map shows that it is indeed within one of the complexes at Harris Road that seem to be responsible for 90% of the crime in the Township. A quick Google Search turns up no fewer than 5 instances where Annarbor.com reported it as "residence at XXXX block of MacArthur" as though it were a single-family residence; perhaps this is just the way the Sheriff writes it on his report, but when it's within a specific complex is it not normal reporting procedure to say the name of the complex? Otherwise not only does it fail to fully inform neighbors when as in this instance a fugutive is at large, but also fails to highlight such a concentration of problems to the larger local community (because something really needs to be done there- probably a state takeover and conversion to market-rate apartments, which would allow better screening and still provide for the use of Section 8 vouchers for those that qualify for and are deserving of assistance, instead of the income-based model that gives them no incentive to weed out problem tenants and improve the commplex appearance) and gives a distorted to outsiders who may not realize that this is yet another incident in the same pair of complexes where two homicides have been committed in the past year.
