Suspect in Ann Arbor bank robbery arrested after police pursuit

By Lee Higgins

A suspect in an Ann Arbor bank robbery was arrested Monday after attempting to elude Ann Arbor police and Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies, a sheriff's department news release said.

The chase ended about 5:15 p.m. on Parker Road near I-94 on the border of Scio and Lima townships, police said. The pursuit began in Ann Arbor shortly after the robbery Monday, continued into Scio Township, then Lima Township, the release said.

@Bpf...you have missed the point...giving any facts about a bank robbery in the Emerald City would only give credence to those that say there is crime here [which never happens, just miscommunications and misundertstandings]...but...a high speed police chase to catch an alleged bank robber...that's newsworthy because it ended in somewhere other than the Emerald City...LOL Peace Out Dudes...

I'm glad they caught that crazy man. I witnessed part of the chase on Scio Church Road. I sure hope they treated the suspect the same way Detroit Police did when they caught their car chase suspect last week. Get those crazy people off our streets!

Did I miss the facts of this story? ie. What bank was robbed, etc? Or was this info not deemed relevant enough for this venerable publication?

I was headed North on South Maple and saw the fleeing pickup truck speeding down the middle of S. Maple with 2 police cars in pursuit. They must have been doing at least 80-90 MPH when they passed me. Thank goodness no one was killed. They need to put this guy away forever. Bank robbery and incredibly reckless driving.

This must be what was going on when I was at the corner of Jackson and Maple roads around 5:15 pm. First an AAPD Suburban went over the curb and passed me (there was nowhere for me to go), then after I turned, another six police cars passed me. Five minutes later I was on Liberty headed towards Wagner and yet another police car passed me, headed into Scio Township. I have never seen so many police vehicles at one time...at least not on the road.
