Two suspects arraigned in fatal Superior Township shooting
Two suspects connected with the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Jamar Gardner were arraigned today at the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department.
Larry Louis Hunter, 27, is being held without bond for open murder, the possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was also arraigned for possessing marijuana and driving with a suspended license on former charges from the Ypsilanti Police Department.
Both Hunter and LaShawn Antonio Covington were involved in an argument among several people that started in Superior Township Saturday, leading to a fistfight and Gardner’s death.
They turned themselves into custody Thursday.
Covington, 18, is being held on a $100,000 bond for assault with a dangerous weapon and was ordered to avoid contact with both Hunter and the victim he's accused of assaulting in the fight.
Covington’s mother Marget Tracy Pittman, 35, turned herself in on a felonious assault charge Tuesday. She was arraigned and is being held on 10 percent of $100,000 bond.
A pre-trial is set for all three Feb. 9.
