Thieves swipe unattended belongings in Pittsfield Township

Two women had their belongings stolen in Pittsfield Township over the weekend.

On Saturday, a victim's wallet was stolen out of her purse around 3:30 p.m. as she shopped at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, 2897 Oak Valley Drive. The woman left her purse unattended in the store, Lt. Steve Heller said.

Sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday, the window was broken from a Ford Escape parked at Spice Tree Apartments, in the 4700 block of Washtenaw Avenue. A bag was stolen from the vehicle.

Police are investigating.

In Ypsilanti, a burglary was reported Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in the 200 block of North Prospect. A burglar entered through an unsecured living room window, cutting the screen, and took electronics and jewelry from the home. The resident also found the back door unlocked and the residence in disarray. Police are investigating.
