Three arrested after robbery Sunday morning in Ann Arbor, police say

By Lee Higgins

Two men and a woman were arrested early Sunday after a robbery near the intersection of South State and Hill streets, Ann Arbor police Lt. Renee Bush said.

Three women were walking in the area at about 2 a.m. when one of them was punched by a woman who got out of a car, Bush said.

A fight ensued, two men exited the car and got involved, and two cell phones were taken from the victims, Bush said.

The incident began after the people in the car offered to take the women to a party, but they declined the invitation, Bush said.

As the car left the area after the robbery, a victim called 911 and gave dispatchers a description, Bush said.

Pittsfield Township police stopped the car near the intersection of South State Street and East Eisenhower Parkway, and the arrests were made, Bush said. She said the cell phones were recovered.

Of those arrested, a 21-year-old Ypsilanti Township man remained jailed today, while a 29-year-old man and 22-year-old woman, both from Toledo, have been released, Bush said. Detectives continue to investigate.

I bet the woman from Toledo was shocked when she punched the other woman and a fight ensued. She probably thought it would be all over after she threw that punch.

+1 to LA Don't cede the streets to the criminals. It should be they who are wary whenever/wherever they are, not the other way around.

I am not sure that is always a good solution. The more people are on the streets, the safer they are. If we all flee - the bad guys win. We (as a city) want people to be downtown at all hours, walking window-shopping, enjoying the night. Definitely go out in groups!! USe your brains!! I agree with using your common sense and be AWARE of your surroundings. Lock your doors, but enjoy our beautiful and relatively safe city!

Ah yes, the criminals latest crop of victims are back in town...please be smart people, and be aware of your surroundings. Have a drink or two less and use that money to pay for a cab, do not walk late at night...even in small groups.
