Augusta Township residents will vote on a proposed 10-year farmland and open-space preservation millage in August, the Ypsilanti Courier reported.

The proposed tax levy of .1 mill would result in the owner of a home with a taxable value of $100,000 paying $10 per year. Township officials estimate it would raise $20,000 in the first year, the newspaper reported.

The township would use the money to purchase land and property rights.
