By Cindy Heflin

Editor's note: This article has been corrected to reflect that the crash was in the southbound lanes of the freeway. Initial information had indicated it was in the northbound lanes.

5:25 p.m. update: The crash scene has been cleared, a Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office dispatcher reports.

A crash involving what was believed to be a pickup truck and trailer snarled traffic during the afternoon commute on U.S. 23 in Ann Arbor Monday.

The truck had crashed on the median side of the southbound lanes of the freeway near Packard Road, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said. It was not clear if any lanes of the freeway were blocked, the dispatcher said.

A Google traffic map showed a lengthy backup stretching to north of Plymouth Road on the southbound side of the freeway and a shorter backup in the northbound lanes.

The crash was not believed to have caused any injuries.

State police were on the scene and a wrecker was on the way, the dispatcher said shortly before 5 p.m.
