Two crashes slow traffic on Ann Arbor freeways
Two crashes were affecting the morning commute in Ann Arbor Thursday.
A three-car crash was on westbound Interstate 94 at State Street. The other was a two-vehicle crash on westbound M-14 at Barton Drive.
Neither was blocking traffic, a dispatcher with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said at 8:10 a.m., but a Google traffic map showed a significant slowdown on I-94 near the crash. Further information was not immediately available.

These two intersections seem to see a lot of accidents. I understand M-14 at Barton, but does anyone know why State & I-94 seem to have a lot of crashes? Is it sheer volume, or something else? Thanks.

Actually it slows down further east. Normally about the Michigan Ave. exit. This whole stretch is a nightmare.

That makes sense. Thanks, J.

Yes, it's volume; traffic always slows around the State Street exit. At peak times, the cars trying to exit State St. even overspill onto I-94 itself.
