Two Detroit men found with hundreds of stolen credit cards, Pittsfield Township police say

By Lee Higgins

Pittsfield Township police say hundreds of stolen credit cards were recovered from two Detroit men who attempted to purchase gift cards at a Meijer on Tuesday.

Terrance Lewis, 21, and Travis McCoy, 19, are each charged with identity theft, possession of fraudulent financial transaction devices and attempting to retain a financial transaction device without consent.

The two were arrested at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at a Meijer on Carpenter Road, where police say they attempted to buy gift cards using stolen credit cards.

The men are cooperating with an investigation into a scheme in southeast Michigan to purchase gift cards with stolen credit cards and sell the gift cards, said Gordy Schick, the township's deputy director of police services. Loss prevention workers recognized the men and called police, Schick said.

The men were expected to be arraigned on the charges today.
